Privacy Policy
Speed Plus Academy, Inc. is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit faith-based youth track ministry. We serve children and families. Protecting your information — especially the information of minor athletes in our program — is a moral obligation we take seriously.
This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, how we protect it, and the rights you have over it.
I. Who We Are
Speed Plus Academy, Inc. is a Florida nonprofit corporation, granted 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status by the Internal Revenue Service (EIN 33-2863194). The organization was incorporated December 26, 2024. We operate the Speed Plus Academy Track Club at Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando, Florida, under the direction of founder and head coach Boris L. Jackson.
When this policy says “we,” “our,” or “the organization,” we mean Speed Plus Academy, Inc. When we say “you,” we mean a parent, legal guardian, athlete, donor, volunteer, or any other person who interacts with our website (spatrackclub.com or speedplusacademy.com), our programs, or our representatives.
II. Information We Collect
We collect only what we need to operate our youth track program safely and lawfully. Specifically:
From parents and legal guardians at registration
- Full name and contact phone number
- Email address (for season communication and receipts)
- Billing address (required by our payment processor for fraud protection)
- Payment information — processed entirely by Stripe, Inc. We do not see, store, or have access to credit card numbers. Stripe is a PCI-DSS Level 1 certified processor.
About the registered athlete
- Full legal name
- Date of birth (required for AAU age-group placement and insurance)
- Grade level for the upcoming school year
- School affiliation (for high school post-season athletes)
Automatically when you visit our website
- Standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited, timestamps) collected by our hosting provider, Netlify
- No third-party advertising trackers, pixel tags, or behavioral profiling cookies are used on this website
III. Why We Collect This Information
Each piece of information has a specific operational purpose:
- Parent contact information — to communicate practice schedules, meet announcements, weather cancellations, and other program updates
- Athlete name and date of birth — required by AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) for membership registration, age-group competition placement, and insurance coverage
- Payment information — to process tuition, deposits, and balance payments; processed by Stripe under their privacy policy
- Billing address — required by Stripe for fraud protection on credit card transactions
IV. Children’s Privacy — COPPA Compliance
Our program serves athletes as young as elementary school age. We comply with the federal Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), which protects the personal information of children under 13.
We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. All registration is completed by a parent or legal guardian. Athletes do not create accounts on our website. Athletes do not interact with payment forms or contact systems on our website.
If we learn that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13 without verifiable parental consent, we will delete that information immediately upon discovery. Parents who believe their child has submitted information directly should contact us using the information at the bottom of this policy.
V. Who Has Access to Your Information
We share information only with the following parties and only for the purposes described:
- Coach Boris L. Jackson and authorized Speed Plus Academy staff — for program operation, communication, athlete safety, and competition coordination
- Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) — athlete name, date of birth, and grade are submitted to AAU for membership registration; AAU has its own privacy policy at aausports.org
- Stripe, Inc. — processes all payment transactions; their privacy policy is at stripe.com/privacy
- Netlify, Inc. — hosts our website and may collect standard server logs as described above
- Law enforcement or courts — only when legally compelled by valid subpoena, court order, or other lawful process
We do not sell, rent, or share your information with advertisers, data brokers, marketing firms, or any other commercial third parties. We are a nonprofit ministry, not a data company.
VI. How We Protect Your Information
Information collected through our website is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). Payment information never touches our servers — it goes directly to Stripe’s secured infrastructure. Athlete records and parent contact information are stored in Google Workspace and Firebase systems with multi-factor authentication on staff accounts.
That said, no system is invulnerable. If a data breach occurs that affects your information, we will notify you in accordance with Florida and federal law.
VII. Data Retention
We retain registration and contact information for the duration of your athlete’s active participation in the program plus a reasonable archival period for tax, legal, and operational purposes (typically seven years, consistent with IRS requirements for nonprofit recordkeeping).
You may request earlier deletion of your records as described in the next section. Some records (financial transactions, AAU compliance) may be retained for the full archival period regardless of deletion requests, as required by law.
VIII. Your Rights
As a parent, legal guardian, or registered participant, you have the right to:
- Request a copy of the information we hold about you or your athlete
- Request correction of any information that is inaccurate or incomplete
- Request deletion of your records, subject to legal retention requirements
- Withdraw consent for future communications at any time
- Receive notice if your information is involved in a data breach
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the information at the bottom of this policy. We will respond within 30 days.
IX. Cookies and Tracking
Our website uses essential cookies only, set by our hosting provider (Netlify) for basic operational functions like maintaining your session. We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, advertising trackers, or any other behavioral tracking technology. We do not build profiles of website visitors.
Stripe’s checkout pages, accessed when you make a payment, may set their own cookies governed by Stripe’s privacy policy.
X. Photos and Media at Practices and Meets
Coach BoJack and authorized staff may take photographs or video of athletes during practices and competitions for use in: (a) program promotion and recruitment, (b) social media posts on our official channels (Instagram @speedplussports), (c) team highlights shared with parents, and (d) college recruiter outreach materials.
By registering an athlete, parents grant Speed Plus Academy, Inc. permission to use such photographs and video. Parents who wish to opt out of media use for their athlete should notify Coach BoJack in writing at registration. Opt-out requests will be honored for all future media but cannot retroactively remove material already published.
XI. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as our operations or applicable law evolve. The “Effective” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated to active families via email. The current version will always be available at spatrackclub.com/privacy.html.
XII. Governing Law
This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the State of Florida and applicable U.S. federal law, including but not limited to COPPA. Any disputes arising under this policy will be resolved in the state or federal courts of Orange County, Florida.
